Wild Game Processing
Crossroads of the North doesn't process deer at our Spooner location — but the Lutz family's other store does.
Washburn County is some of the best deer hunting in Wisconsin, and we want to make it easy to get your deer processed by people you already trust. Our Spooner shop is set up for retail — pre-packaged steaks, brats, jerky, cheese, and a curated cellar. The cutting, smoking, and wild game work happens about 50 minutes south at Amery Meat Market, also owned by Jen and Dennis Lutz.
Family and locally owned since 1965. Amery Meat Market is a full-service butcher shop in downtown Amery, Wisconsin — about 50 minutes south of Spooner via US-63. They've been Polk County's wild game processor for decades, and they handle venison, bear, elk, and other game on request.
View their processing servicesDrive south on US-63 from Spooner — it's about 50 minutes to Amery. Drop your deer at 116 Central Street and they'll handle the rest. Same family, same Wisconsin standards, and a freezer full of finished product ready for pickup a few days later.
If you'd rather not make the drive yourself, ask around your hunting camp — most groups coordinate one trip and stack the coolers.
Amery Meat Market offers the full wild game menu — bring them your deer (or your trim) and tell them how you want it cut. Standard options include:
They also process bear, elk, and other game on request — call ahead to confirm.
